Error Analysis can be done on the "Catch a Wave Mid-Unit Test" and "Heat Transfer and Sound Quiz" given back last week. These are due TUESDAY MAY 10!
If you have not taken these assessments, you have until TUESDAY MAY 10 to take the assessment with me during homeroom.
Error Analysis Format
(complete for each question you would like to correct for up to half credit back)
1. Rewrite the question that you missed
2. Provide the CORRECT answer
3. Explain why this new answer is correct, or discuss anything that you added to correct any partial credit taken away.
This week, all sixth grade students will be participating in my Kenan Fellows project "Symbiosis in the Soil" where we are looking for beneficial microbes found within the roots of plants around our school. The data collected will be contributed to the research being conducted by microbiologist, Dr. Julia Stevens, at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
We will be using the following POWERPOINT throughout the week.
Be sure to wear closed toe shoes on Tuesday and Friday of this week. Also, if you have long hair, have something to pull it back with.
Draw a picture illustrating why the Earth is important to you.
Be sure to use a hashtag! ex. #Respectyourmother #GoGreen #NoPlaceLikeHome
On the back, write a paragraph (5-7 sentences) about what you have drawn and explaining why the Earth is so important.
Write an apology letter to the Earth for all the things that humans have done to harm the Earth.
Your letter should be formatted correctly with three paragraphs (introduction, body, closing) and include specific things that are going on around the world.
Your assignment is due on EARTH DAY! Friday April 22!

Overview: This week, we will be introducing food chains, food webs, and energy pyramids. Students will begin the week by wrapping up last week's Hunger Games Project. We will then complete various classroom activities to explain how energy moves throughout an ecosystem.

Overview: This week, we will be continuing our discussion on Photosynthesis and moving on to Cellular Respiration. Students will be able to compare and contrast the two processes as they occur within plants.

Overview: This week, students will be discussing defense mechanisms that plants use in order to survive. There will be a quiz on Thursday covering parts of a flowering plant and defense mechanisms. After the quiz, we will begin to discuss photosynthesis.

Ms. Henderson will be presenting her impact project (mini-unit that she created) throughout this week and the start of next week.
